Apple's 'Welcome Home' Event: Its First Smart-Home Display Powered by Siri AI

Today is the day Apple finally walks back into your living room. Apple's "Welcome Home" event — officially announced on October 8 — is expected to unveil the company's first dedicated smart-home display, built from the ground up around the new Siri AI. It's Apple's first coordinated home push in years, and it's the first real test of whether the rebuilt Siri can carry an entire product. The star of the show is a brand-new device, not a refresh. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, it comes in two versions — a countertop model (internally J490) and a wall-mounted one (J491). The countertop version reportedly has a roughly 6-inch square display mounted on a half-dome speaker base, running a brand-new operating system based on tvOS. HCLTech Just Bet Its Enterprise Future on Anthropic's Claude

India's third-largest IT services firm is going all in on agentic AI. HCLTech announced a "Global Premier Partnership" with Anthropic on Monday — and the headline isn't just the partnership, it's the scale of the bet: an entire new business unit built around Claude. The details HCLTech will establish a dedicated Anthropic Business Unit with a Centre of Excellence to build agentic AI solutions for enterprises, with safety, cybersecurity and governance front and center. The unit will give clients secure sandbox environments for enterprise Claude deployments through Frontier Deployed Engineers, and help them adopt AI-native engineering practices and train their workforces. HCLTech's services teams will build industry-specific solutions powered by Claude, Cowork and Claude Code.
