Anthropic Just Gave Claude Two New Superpowers — Motion Videos and Live Dashboards

Claude Motion and Dashboards illustration — AI turning prompts into animated videos and live dashboards, titled Claude Gets Motion and Dashboards

Claude just got two new tricks that push it well past "chatbot" territory. Anthropic rolled out Claude Motion and Claude Dashboards in beta — plus graduated three existing tools out of beta entirely.

WHAT MOTION DOES: Type a prompt — or /motion — and Claude turns your text, diagrams, or images into an animated explainer video. Anthropic's examples: a quarterly report becomes a 30-second all-hands explainer, a board-deck chart gets animated, a product walkthrough builds itself.

HOW IT'S DIFFERENT: Motion doesn't use a video-generation model. Claude writes code that animates your own content, frame by frame. No generated footage, no AI-generated people — and every word, number, and timing stays editable, either by chatting ("Change the Q3 number to 18%") or in the code editor. The finished piece exports as MP4 and can be opened in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI, or Runway (Canva and Captions are coming soon). Anthropic hasn't published resolution or length limits, and usage counts toward your plan's limits.

WHAT DASHBOARDS DOES: Connect BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, or Salesforce, describe the dashboard you want in plain text, and Claude builds one that updates itself automatically. Every number links back to the query that produced it, and results can be piped into Amplitude, Grafana, or Hex.

WHO GETS WHAT: Motion is in beta on Claude Team and Enterprise plans only. Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. Docs, Slides, and Design are now out of beta on ALL plans, including free — Anthropic says users have already created 45 million documents with them. Claude Design folds into the main app by December 14.

THE VERDICT: Anthropic is quietly rebuilding Claude as a work suite, not a chat window. The Motion approach is the standout: because every frame is code instead of generated video, nothing hallucinates and everything is fixable. If you've ever fought a video editor for a two-slide explainer, this is the feature you've been waiting for.
