OpenAI is changing what a ChatGPT answer looks like. On October 7, 2026, the company introduced Intelligent UI, a new feature that lets ChatGPT respond with fully interactive interfaces instead of plain text. It's rolling out alongside GPT-6, OpenAI's newest model, which is now reaching all ChatGPT tiers.
What's new
Instead of text-only answers, GPT-6 can now build interactive experiences: charts, forms, tappable buttons, diagrams — even small tools created on request. OpenAI's examples include a road-trip plan shown on a map, an interactive recipe that rescales quantities when the guest count changes, a rent calculator with income and expense sliders, a dinner bill splitter, and even a small game — all inside the conversation. The model picks the format for each question: a comparison may work best side by side, an explanation as an interactive diagram, and plain text when visuals would add nothing. Behind the scenes is a library of native, streamable components plus a compiler that renders the interface while the model is still generating — so the UI appears progressively instead of after a long wait. GPT-6 can also start answering while it is still thinking, making complex queries feel faster; OpenAI says GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% faster on average than GPT-5.6 Instant for web-search queries (the company's own figure).
Availability
Rolling out worldwide starting October 7: Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users get it first, Free and Go tiers follow on October 8. Paid tiers get GPT-6 Sol, free and Go users get GPT-6 Luna. The update is limited to the Chat tab — Work and Codex models are unchanged. On safety, OpenAI says GPT-6 resists safeguard-bypass attempts better and handles high-risk prompts (cyberattacks, biological threats, violence) more carefully.
AiPost's take
ChatGPT has over 1.2 billion weekly users, per OpenAI. A change this deep in the world's most-used chatbot could quietly reset what a billion people expect from software. OpenAI's pitch — "instead of people adapting to software, software will adapt to people" — is grand, but the real test is simpler: whether interactive answers save time, or just add visual noise. Early signs say OpenAI is betting big on the former.
